Reflection
This is a reflection on how this course transformed my understanding of writing and the effective use of ChatGPT as a learning tool.

At the beginning of the course, I had limited experience using ChatGPT beyond correcting grammar errors. I was curious about how it could be used to enhance my writing process and eager to explore this new approach. Initially, I expected ChatGPT to analyze large amounts of data quickly, which it did effectively. However, I didn’t anticipate incorporating tools like a questionnaire into my work. This method ultimately played a significant role in my ability to analyze data and strengthened my understanding of the writing process.
Throughout the course, my perception of inquiry-based learning and ChatGPT evolved. Initially, I believed that teachers viewed ChatGPT negatively due to concerns about students relying on it for assignments. Over time, I discovered its value as a tool for improving coherence and precision in writing. It helped refine my paragraphs while staying true to my original ideas. I realized the importance of starting with my own words and opinions, as this ensures I don’t fully depend on AI. This balance allowed me to embrace the benefits of ChatGPT while maintaining ownership of my work, and it highlighted how both teachers and students can use such tools constructively.
One specific instance where ChatGPT improved my writing performance was in proofreading. I tend to overlook grammar errors while writing, which makes rereading and revising a tedious process. ChatGPT helped by quickly identifying mistakes and providing constructive feedback. Beyond fixing errors, it offered insightful suggestions that helped me understand how to enhance my writing. This experience not only saved time but also allowed me to learn from its recommendations and improve my skills over time.

However, there were challenges in balancing inquiry-based learning with the use of AI. Critical thinking, in particular, has always been a difficult skill for me, as I find it challenging to identify blind spots or hidden issues in a topic. ChatGPT’s ability to provide instant answers made it tempting to rely on it too heavily. To address this, I consciously focused on analyzing topics independently. For example, when discussing abortion policies, I pushed myself to evaluate current situations and policies critically to identify points of contention. This approach allowed me to develop my critical thinking skills while still using ChatGPT’s insights as a complement to my efforts.

Overall, the integration of inquiry-based learning and ChatGPT has significantly influenced my writing skills and learning experience. It has helped me approach writing with greater organization, coherence, and precision. This combination of methods has not only improved my technical abilities but also encouraged me to think more deeply about topics and develop a balanced approach to using AI as a tool for growth.
